Add leafy greens — seems easy enough. But pet parents continue to get in the rut and over-do a good thing. And it’s not just leafy greens.

A pet parent switches to homemade food. They’re putting in the effort, buying real ingredients, trying to do better.

They send me their recipe. And there it is.

Spinach.
A lot of it.
In every single recipe.

Sometimes it’s a full handful per meal. Sometimes it’s cups of it in a weekly batch. And I understand why—it cooks down to almost nothing. What looks like a huge pile in the pan turns into a small scoop in the bowl.

But when it’s showing up every day, in every batch, for weeks or months, it stops being harmless. Now it’s a pattern.

And patterns are what create problems. Remmber I tell you to stay out of the rut and rotate — but there are some foods, like spinach you have to be mindful of.
