Poppy Turned 11
Kidney Health for Seniors
Poppy turned 11 this week… and we’re officially in proactive kidney support mode.
Not because she’s sick.
Because this is the window where it matters most.
Here’s what should get your attention:
• About 1 in 10 dogs will develop kidney disease
• In dogs over 10… that jumps to 15–25% (or more)
• And here’s the kicker — by the time it’s diagnosed, up to 75% of kidney function is already gone
Let that sink in for a second.
So no… we don’t wait for a diagnosis in this house.
We support early.
I’m starting to rotate in kidney-supportive herbs for Poppy now — gently, intentionally, and consistently.
This looks like:
• Supporting detox + filtration pathways
• Nourishing kidney reserves as they age
• Staying ahead of dehydration + inflammation
• Preventing the slow decline most people don’t see coming
This is how I approach aging with my own dogs.
Not reactive.
Not fear-based.
Just paying attention and making smart moves early.
If your dog is 7+… this is your reminder.
You don’t need “bad labs” to start supporting the organs that are working overtime every single day.
If you want help figuring out what that looks like for your dog, I’ve got resources on the site and deeper protocols inside the member library.
Start before the body has to shout.
I’ve expanded on this with more detail and examples inside my paid subscriber section. Come discuss it with us.
