**PEMF for kidney health? This one caught my attention.**
Recent animal research found that pulsed magnetic field therapy helped protect kidney tissue during acute inflammatory kidney injury — with improvements in inflammation, oxidative stress, cellular damage and kidney markers.
Now, this was **rat research — not a clinical study in dogs with chronic kidney disease** — so I’m not calling PEMF a kidney treatment.
But this is exactly why I keep watching PEMF research.
But you can bet I’d add PEMF to the protocol!
When I’m supporting a dog with kidney concerns, I’m rarely thinking about **one thing** anyway.
I’m looking at:
fresh, moisture-rich nutrition
phosphorus and protein appropriate for *that dog*
hydration
inflammation and oxidative stress
circulation
herbs and nutritional support
and potentially modalities such as PEMF
Then we can layer in other tools.
**Juniper essential oil** is one oil traditionally used in animal aromatherapy protocols for kidney support, along with Helichrysum, Grapefruit and others.
And there’s another interesting option: **K&B — Kidney & Bladder — tincture**, which can be incorporated into the diet and is specifically discussed for kidney and urinary support.
This is where holistic care gets much more interesting than simply asking:
**“What supplement should I give for kidney disease?”**
The better question is: **What combination of food, herbs, oils, hydration and supportive modalities makes sense for THIS dog?**
